Happy Mother's Day

I was able to sleep in this morning. I am sitting have a cup of coffee and enjoying the quietness of the house before the day begins. I can't believe it is already Mother's Day.....gee, is it May already? I am looking forward to spending the day with my husband, sons, daughter-in-law and Grandchildren (Moonpie & Sunny Posum). I have been sitting here looking at pictures of my Mother. This is the second Mother's Day I have had without her here to give (and get) a big hug and kiss to today. I miss her now as much as the day she passed way. Sometimes you do not appreciate people while they are here. I assumed she was going to be here forever, life without Mama was inconceivable. I hope anyone who takes the time to read this will realize life is not a guarantee. If there is someone in your life that is important to you. Take the time to tell them, or better yet show them in some small gesture that you love them. I am not wanting to sound down, I know my Mama is with me, she will always be here in my heart and memories. I love you Mama.
Back to the coffee pot for more coffee.......it is going to be a busy day. :>)

Been a while......

Well, it has been a while since my last post. I thought I would do this at least on a weekly basis. There are always distractions. A lot has happened over the last year. Moonpie and Sunny Posum are really growing fast. They change each time I see them. Moonie got the game ball playing baseball this weekend. I was out of town and did not get to see the game. He was so proud. 'Sunny' aka Busy Beth is always into something. Showing her independents more every day. Her mom says she is an evil child. I keep telling her she is just spirited. She is not a bad child, she just got a double dose of stubborn in her genes. I am going to close, but promise to do better keeping my blog up to date.

First attempt at blogging

Well, here goes. I have heard so many people talking about blogging. I thought I would give it a try. First of all, about my blog's name. Anyone who knows me and my family knows you have to name everything. (Cars, trucks, people, etc.) Not just the common name, but a special name, a term of endearment. I learned this from my father and I have passed it on to Danny and the boys. It is something we just have to do. My daddy nicknamed me his little Posum and my boys are Sport (Michael) and Hoss (Brian). So, carrying on the tradition, I nicknamed my oldest grandson (Michael, Jr.) my little Moonpie. I got the idea from the very first picture I saw of him. It happened to be an Ultrasound and the position he was in had him "Mooning" us. I have called him this from the day he was born. Sometimes it is shortened to "Moony" or "Moon". He has become accustomed to being called that by me, however, sometimes when he is in a not so good mood, he will correct me and tell me his name is Michael. When he little sister Elizabeth was born a few years ago, I was keeping them at their house. I told Moony that it was time to give his sister a nickname. I had to explain what a nickname was so I told him that I call you Moonpie or Moony because I love you. He just looked at me like HUH? Then I told him that his Pappy calls me his Posum. Then I had to explain what a posum was. I told him that since he was a Moony, his sister could be Sunny. He looked at floor, I knew he was thinking about it. Then he said "I know! We can call her Sunny Posum!!" So, there you go, my beautiful baby girl was now officially nicknamed after her Mema and one of the ugliest creatures God ever put on the face of the earth. It hasn't scarred me for life, I think it's kinda cute. I hope Beth will too. I have five wonderful grandchildren, but these two are my Moon and Sun. I think they will appreciate their nicknames more than my boys who I usally refer to as my little Tickturd and Buckethead.

I wanted my first blog to include a picture that we recently took at Mama and Daddy's house. We had a good bit of the family show up about two weekends ago and got a couple a good pictures. Unfortunately, April and Jordan were not there yet. Lisa said that they were all in pictures together later. If I get one of those pictures I will post it too. This picture was one of the best that we took the day I was there.

I am including a picture of Moony and his sister. She has really started talking a lot over the last few months. She has a rather sharp tongue (not sure where she gets that?!?) But the cutest thing is when you ask her what her name is, she will say "Busy Beth". She can't say Elizabeth yet, but "Busy Beth" just seems to fit her, the child can not sit still and talks a hundred miles an hour. She absolutely adores her big brother, he can do no wrong. She tries to keep up with him and in doing so has become a rough and tumble little kid. Michael was on a T-Ball team this past year. He really enjoyed it. It was tickled that the number one his jersey was number 1. He walked around talking everyone he was Number 1!

Well, I am sitting here waiting on the bad weather. We are supposed to get some snow starting in a few hours. I really hate snow and sleet. I don't know how people up north can stand it. I guess that's why I will always stay in the south were I belong.
